Sew a skirt in a day
DETAILS:
An introduction to dressmaking where you will sew a flattering and timeless A-line skirt in this one day workshop. You’ll learn to de-code, use and fit a commercial pattern, insert a zip and line a garment.
The fee includes the fabulous multi-size (size 8-22) Amy Butler, Barcelona skirt pattern worth £13.50 which you’ll be using on the day - and get to take home so that you can make it again and again. And even better the pattern includes three different takes on the A-line style so that each new skirt you make can look quite different to the one before.
YOU WILL NEED TO BRING:
1.75 metres of 115 cms wide light to mid-weight cotton fabric
1.55 metres of 115 cms wide toning light-weight cotton for the skirt lining
18cm coordinating zip
1 small hook and eye
1 reel of coordinating all-purpose thread
The hire of a sewing machine is included in the price of the workshop. You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine on the day if you would prefer to use it during the class but please make sure that it is in good working order as there will be no time to troubleshoot a poor functioning machine.
This class includes a break for lunch. Please bring your own packed lunch or alternatively there are a variety of shops a short walk from the venue where you can purchase a snack. Tea and coffee will be provided.
It's important that you arrive on time so that you do not miss any of the introduction.
Once you have booked I will advise you on where you can buy suitable fabrics.
Parking is available in the venue's own car park.
